How to Enhance Your Post-Float Glow

The time inside the float tank can be described as just as magical as is the time after your zero gravity float session. So what can you do to best carry that experience back out into the world with you to make sure the post-float glow lasts as long as possible?

Many people emerge from floating with a deepened awareness of everything. Sights, sounds and smells may feel more intense, and you may find yourself with more energy, new clarity, creativity and inspiration. Take this opportunity to feel more alive. Here is how!

Don’t rush

If you can, arrive a few minutes early and take some time to arrive. Sit, relax and take a few deep breaths. You are welcome to chill in our reception area or lounge and enjoy some water or tea before hopping into the float tank. If you’ve had a busy day rushing around, coming in and switching off before you float – even if it’s only for 5 minutes – can actually help maximise your experience as you’ll give your mind a chance to calm down.

When you emerge from your float, take a few minutes to spend in our lounge. Really taste all the flavours in the tea you’re sipping. Have a look through our hand drawn mandala collection, the art on the wall, the trees outside…study each object in detail, enjoy the colours, textures, lines…Check in with your emotions. Observe what is going on inside you and whatever you feel, try to just spend some time feeling it instead, accepting it and allowing yourself to process it without immediately rushing back into normal life.

Connect with others or take some quiet time

Some people feel somewhat sleepy and self immersed when leaving their float with the desire to be alone and still. If this is you, you may want to take a few extra minutes after your float to reflect, meditate or read a book in our post-float lounge. Others might wish to talk, express their feelings or share their experience. What ever it is that you need, listen to your body, do what feels right for you and we at The Float Space will do our best to honour it. Chat with our friendly staff if you wish or just chill and enjoy your post-float bliss!

Hydrate

Make sure to drink sufficient water after your float. While you were floating, your blood pressure dropped, your spine, joints and muscles were freed from the job of supporting you, you breathed more deeply, sending increased oxygen to all the cells in your body. Hydrating your body well will help you make the most of all these benefits.

In addition, the huge amount of Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) in our tanks, greatly accelerates the body’s detoxification process. Did you know one 1 floating is equivalent to a 3-day fast? If you feel a bit sleepy after your float, this is quite normal and can be sign that your body is undergoing detoxification, signalling you to slow down and take it easy for a while. To help your body flush out the toxins faster make sure to drink plenty of water the hours and day following your float.

Stay unplugged just a little longer

Instead of immediately checking your phone, stay in the moment a bit longer. Be mindful of the world that’s around and inside you. Feel what it’s like to just be with yourself, feel your body moving as you walk back to your car – and be grateful for this wondrous body of yours carrying you around from place to place, accomplishing so many things every day. Become aware of the sky above, the trees, cars or people passing you. Stay in the moment, rather than in the future already pre-occupying your mind with what’s next on your to-do list, or what’s been happening on Facebook in the past hour. The virtual world will always be there when you return to it, we promise ?

Float again

Floating is extremely beneficial but it may take a few times until you know how to properly utilise this tool. Just like working out or dieting it will take a few floats before even minor benefits truly begin to manifest and will require regular use until profound benefits will be realised. Tension, pain, stress, and anxiety didn’t form overnight and will take time for you to release these on a significant scale. Try to integrate floating into your routine regularly, be it weekly, fortnightly or monthly, to help you reconnect with your true self and create a balanced life.

To help you integrate floating as a regular part of your life, we offer discounted packages and memberships with flexible terms and special perks – click here for more info! or CONTACT US for any queries around floatation and we’ll help you answer them.
