The alarm goes off. You struggle out of bed and try to not wake up your significant other. You look at your phone and the time is “02:00”. You sigh and start to get ready for your shift.

This routine is done everyday in Australia. There are over 1.4 million shift workers in Australia, making up making up 16% of employees – a significant amount of our economy. Examples of shift workers include doctors, nurses, paramedics, disability workers, factory workers, drivers and more.

Working irregular hours or night shifts for a long period of time can wreak havoc on your natural sleep cycle, and in turn can wreak havoc on your body and mind. Problems with stress, depression, and blood pressure can arise when you deprive yourself of healthy and deep rest. Many people quite simply not able to get adequate rest.

Thankfully, there is a solution to your problem: Float therapy.

A float session is an excellent tool for getting your body the rest and rejuvenation it needs. All sound and sight stimulation is removed as you enter an environment devoid of external inputs, allowing your mind to turn its focus inward and enter a deeply relaxed, tranquil place. In fact, floating helps your mind enter a theta-brainwave state, one step from deep sleep.

Many of our clients report feeling as though they’ve slept for something like six to eight hours after a session in a float pod.

The high concentration of Epsom salt dissolved in the water create an extreme buoyancy which allows your body to relax as nearly all the effects of gravity are removed. These Epsom salts do more than create buoyancy, they also contain essential minerals including magnesium which are absorbed into your skin and drastically improve blood flow throughout your entire body. Endorphins will naturally pump through you, the stress hormone cortisol is reduced, and your body begins to repairitself.

So whether you’re having to deal with long periods of late hours or you’re travelling for long stretches, a session in a float pod can help reverse some of the negative effects you’ll experience and get your body the sleep it needs.

“I was always looking for how I could recover so that when my day off comes, I don’t feel like a truck hit me the whole time. I walk into The Float Space like a zombie but walk out human again. For me this is priceless.” – Vicky S., Nurse
